2021 SFB Internship
The Smart, Funny, and Black Internship was formed to elevate and prepare the next generation entering the arts and entertainment workspace with a foundation of intention, awareness, and skill. There are currently three disciples within this Internship program: Production Assistant, Comedy Writing, and Digital Marketing and Design. With the help of the SFB Team, each intern will be given the opportunity to implement and elevate their respective skills while gaining work experience in their field as well as others. The intention of this program is to gain education, mentorship, access, and to provide resources for interns to utilize in future endeavors.
Allow us to welcome our 2nd Summer 2021 Internship Class!
Testimonials
This internship seemed like a cool opportunity, so I applied. I was completely wrong. This internship has been LIFE CHANGING (and I don't use that term lightly). I have met so many amazing people that want to change the world. The assignments were always engaging, and held a purpose. There were so many new opportunities created with this internship. The masterclasses were so insightful and a once in a lifetime experience. The division leaders were always willing to help and very friendly. I highly recommend this internship to anyone that's interested! - Christian Malone, Digital Marketing and Design
The Smart Funny and Black internship was the best opportunity I've ever joined! Everyone is very welcoming, and I loved being a part of a community that understands the black experience. As an intern, I was able to improve my techniques, expand my skill set and find new opportunities to grow as a black creator.- Jada Clarke, Production Assistant
I learned so much as a Production Assistant Intern that it blows my mind. I loved how Amanda & the SFB team were always open to giving me feedback, open to helping me when needed, & I love how they eagerly wanted to connect with everyone throughout the entire internship as well. I truly felt safe in this space, I learned a lot of information and; I have honestly grown as a Screenwriter, Filmmaker & Producer Director in the making. Overall, I highly recommend anyone to apply for this internship because it was eye-opening, positive, & it will help you grow in your purpose as a creative in the future.- Tijaha Richardson, Production Assistant
As a young black creator who works in a mostly non-black space, this internship was not the only a great chance to build my craft, but also do it in a way that is rooted in my cultural experience. It was fun to jump in to help craft the future for Amanda and the SFB team.- Jeremiah Jones, Comedy Writing
Simone Webster is a Comedy Writing intern and currently based in Washington D.C. As someone who makes real-time commentary during movies and makes inappropriate faces during work meetings, she has happily been putting those “bad” habits to good use through improvisational and sketch comedy. She performs with several improv troupes including ‘I Don’t Know Her,’ ‘Lena Dunham,’ and ‘Hellcat’. Simone spent her quarantine creating comedic content; her highlights include co-creating the web series ‘A Rona Election,’ as well as launching an all-Black, bi-monthly digital variety show ‘The Cookout Collective Presents: Enigma.’ She is excited to grow her comedic writing skills and learn more about producing quality content through the Smart, Funny, and Black internship program.
