2020 SFB INTERNSHIP
The Smart, Funny, and Black Internship was formed to elevate and prepare the next generation entering the arts and entertainment workspace with a foundation of intention, awareness, and skill. There are currently four disciples within the Internship program: Graphic Arts, Social Media, Comedy Writing, and Executive Assistant. With the help of the SFB Team, each intern will be given the opportunity to implement and elevate their respective skills while gaining work experience in their field as well as others. The intention of this program is to gain education, mentorship, access, and to provide resources for interns to utilize in future endeavors.
Allow us to welcome the inaugural Intern class of Summer 2020!
Testimonials
“I loved the weekly assignments I was given to help expand and streamline the business. These assignments assisted in the growth of my research and tech skills. In addition, the adhoc assignment forced me to hone in on my time management and managerial skills. I’m leaving this internship having grown in my current skills and I learned new skills I never thought I would! Grateful is an understatement.” — Cindy Edward, Executive Assistant intern
“My internship experience at SFB was one of the best experiences I’ve had out of my 4 internships. There’s a huge emphasis on collaboration, meeting strict deadlines and risk-taking. All of which is necessary to flourish as an upcoming designer. On top of this, the amount of work I’ve added to my portfolio is more than any of my internships.” — Dujaun Kirk, Graphic Design intern
“ I am so grateful that I was selected to be a part of smart funny and black as well as the people I have come in contact with. This was an incredible opportunity for any black creators that want to go into the entertainment field. My favorite part about the internship was I was allowed to be 100% myself. I’ll forever be glad I did this internship.” — Alea Mexile, Comedy Writing intern
“The SFB internship challenged me to push myself as a comedy writer. I learned how to focus my creative process to meet rapidly approaching deadlines, week after week, while still producing at a high level.” — Kalynn Chambers, Comedy Writing Intern
